Hypnosis Online

By Patrick Glancy, BCH

A hypnotic state can be obtained by simply watching TV or driving. It can also be obtained other ways but they require practice, training and time. It is very difficult to produce this state without those things on command. However it is not impossible to achieve this once you learn how to properly do it. There are many products online which offer to teach you hypnosis, however you may find it best to try a few private sessions before committing to buy expensive online programs.

Learning about your body and reaction is critical to learning hypnosis. Each of us will react differently to the state and you should be prepared for what to expect. This is one reason why a private session is recommended first. Some people feel "tingly" or like they are floating while under hypnosis. The mind may feel numb or blank while you are under. Others might not feel these things what so ever. For first timers who have not been hypnotized, you might be unsure of what you are supposed to feel which can be intimidating.

Another way in which a personal session can help is by experiencing how you work through your issues. Hypnosis can be used to help with a variety of issues such as weight loss, smoking or gambling. Not everyone reacts or has the same experiences which lead them to hypnosis. Some people may relive a tragic event in their past which lead them to gaining weight, while having a one on one session, the hypnotist is able to help the client work through the issue instead of them dealing with it at home and alone.

Progress is the ultimate result we all want. A professional will provide a plan and a tracking method so you can see hypnosis is working. Not everyone is the same and the hypnotist can formulate a program and talk with the client about their progress and if need be, change the plan. Progressing in treatment is important, if you are not seeing progress, it becomes more difficult to stay with the program.

Online products and individual session while used together can increase your success rate. The CD's DVD's can help you learn to put yourself in a hypnotic state quickly and while you practice achieving this state, it will become easier to go under at your session. You will also learn to understand how it feels to be hypnotized and how your mind reacts to hypnosis. Once you are at your one on one session you will not be nervous about being put under making the session more useful. For the time between sessions the CD's help clients to continue practicing and help them to maintain their progress.

Some might feel the private sessions are a waste of time and money since there are products online. While it may be true, online products are cheaper, however private sessions are invaluable for advancement and achieving results quickly. Private sessions are tailor made for each your individual progress and personality.

Try it out you have nothing to lose. Talk with your hypnotist about the CD's or DVD's you found online. Try a private session and see how you feel afterward. There are many different ways of being hypnotized and the best way all depends on you. So do your research but think about the importance of a personalized session before making the decision to not try it at all. The choice is yours, but don't short yourself.

An Exciting New Experience as A Lucid Dreamer

By Lesley Groft

Many people want to dream lucidly. If you're among them, the first thing you need to think about is how you want to go about learning.

It's important to think about why you'd like to become a lucid dreamer, too. There are a number of benefits to dreaming this way, but first we should look at normal sleep, so we'll understand them.

Have you ever considered the process of sleep before? Every night you make preparations, crawl into bed and go to sleep. You may have dreams or nightmares or all may just be dark for a few hours, it is rather boring isn't it?

The human body has a built in requirement for sleep. It rests the body so that we are prepared to continue our lives. Without it, there is strong evidence for insanity. That is all well and good but there is nothing saying we cannot control certain aspects of sleep is there?

Lucid dreamers are in complete control of their dreams. This allows them to explore new worlds in their mind and expand the scope of their dreams. Lucid dreamers can also conscious choose not to have nightmares - they just change the dream.

Are you are ready to begin but remain unsure of how any of this is possible? That is ok we are getting there, there are two way to enter lucid dream state. The first is a dream initiated lucid dream, (DILD). This happens once you have already begun to dream and during the dream, you come to the realization that you are indeed dreaming. At this point, you have brought an element of control to the dream because your conscious mind is now involved.

The second way is having a wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD); where the dreamer goes from being awake, to being asleep with no change in consciousness. In other words, the dreamer enters their dream as if it were a door, rather than just "waking up" in a dream.

So what are the actual methods used to induce these two types of lucid dream experiences?

Dream Recall

If you're interested in being a lucid dreamer, one of the most successful methods you can use is dream recall. This is the ability to remember your dreams. By developing this ability, you'll be more readily able to recognize them while you're asleep. That's because you're likely to have the same dream or dream elements on more than one occasion.

The way to practise dream recall is by keeping a dream journal. The dream journal is meant as a tool to write down anything you can remember about your dream, in order to recall it for the future. This should be done right after waking up; otherwise dreams will become harder to remember.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

Developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge the idea is to tell your self to recall an object or situation from your dreams, before you go to sleep. You can look back to your dream journal for an example of a recurring them like a pink haired woman. Anything that when you see it in your dream will tell you that you are in fact dreaming.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

To use this method, first go to sleep. Set an alarm beforehand to wake you up a few hours later (about five or six). Once you wake up, don't go back to sleep. Read for a little while, or think about lucid dreaming for a while, then head back to sleep.

In studies done this method has 60% of the time. When you are interrupted in the middle of sleep, you are interrupting rapid eye movement sleep. This is the time when dreams are the most active. Therefore, you stop in the middle of your best dreamtime only to return to sleep a short time later, improving your chances of entering lucid dream state.

Cycle Adjustment Technique

This technique was created by Daniel Love, and involves setting an alarm that will wake you an hour and a half before you'd normally get up. Once you're used to waking up early, alternate between the early alarm and your old alarm. When you're waking up normally, your body will already be expecting the early alarm, and make you more likely to "wake up" in your dream.

Wake-Initiation of Lucid Dream (WILD)

This method was described before. If you would like to achieve a lucid dream this way, all you have to do is to keep your mind awake while you body falls asleep. This is perhaps the most interesting way of entering a lucid dream. It is as if you are getting ready to watch a movie. You are in the real world, you sit on your couch, you turn on the TV and press play (starting to sleep), the screen is black (in the same way as when your eyes are closed), and all you have to do is wait for the movie to actually start.

Several ways to stay aware but not awake include imagining descending or going up stairs, chanting, counting, breathing control, counting your breaths, and relaxing your body from head to toe. This all falls under self hypnosis. Don't do this when you're tired, or you'll simply fall unconscious.

Technology has moved on in recent years, and there are various devices like dreaming masks and other scientific appliances which contain such things as strobe lights to induce lucid dreams.

Definitely the easiest and most reliable way of inducing a lucid dream however is by listening to binaural beats sound frequencies via headphones.

The sounds bring the two sides of the brain in synch. Your brainwaves are then converted to REM waves the time during sleep when you dream and the frequency at which lucid dreams occur.

With self-hypnosis and a conscious preparedness before you go to sleep anyone can practice lucid dreaming.

How Can You Remember Your Past Lives?

By Georgia Kirsten

Do you know there are many more individuals who do believe in reincarnation than there are that do not? For some it is a way of life as in the instance of Buddhists and Hindus, as part of their religious beliefs. While many may be merely curious or looking to explore answers to some of the mysteries of life, many others may consider that it just makes the most sense when considering past lives. There are an assortment of ways to find out more about your past lives.

Keep a Journal

Did you know that keeping a journal is one of the best ways to begin exploring your past lives? Even recording trivial experiences along with the rest of your experiences can be very helpful. Since your emotional reactions provide you with the strongest clues when considering a past life, you should include your emotional reactions to events in your journal. This will be a record that you can refer to later, when assembling all your clues.

You can look for such clues in your present daily life. You can make lists of things that you may like and dislike, which may include anything from your childhood, foods, fashions, architecture, the climates, various cultures and historical periods. You may also consider including other things that come to mind, such as how you feel and what you think about your natural talents and gifts, fears or phobias, characteristics of your personality, birthmarks and scars as well as animals, occupations and those times you may experience dj vu.

Write about your dreams. Sometimes past lives come through very clearly when we dream. At other times we get little hints. Past and present and combine in a dream and give us symbols that may have meaning for you in both the past and the present. Before you fall asleep, give yourself the suggestion that you want to learn about your past lives. Write down anything and everything you can remember.

Past Life Regression Therapy

Professional past life regression therapists can be most helpful, since they are able to guide you through a regression and then aid you with the interpretation of the information you receive. You will find there are a few places for training and certifying these types of therapist, for instance the International Association of Past Life Therapists and the International Association for Regression and Research and Therapies both train and certify professional therapists. You may be able to find such a therapist in your area.

Meditation

You can explore your past lives while using the various methods of meditation. Meditation is a very private means of finding out more about your past lives. Although, many individuals may have a hard time trusting any incoming information, you should do your best to trust your instincts and feelings.

While meditating may feel like a daydream, and images are flowing in and out, there may be some valuable information coming through. Write it all down and ponder it later. Likewise, if you tell yourself that you won't be able to do it or you won't get anything, you won't. Your mind is very suggestible, and it will retrieve what you tell it to.

Visual stimulus such as candle flames can be very beneficial for some individuals during meditation, while others may find sound to be very stimulating. You might consider the use of a therapists, recorded guided meditation session or simple repeated sounds, such as "om" or even Tibetan bells.

There have also been great advances recently in audio technology with a process called binaural beats. Here sound waves of slightly different frequencies are played in each ear which has the result of instantly relaxing you to a state only normally achieved by Zen monks who have practiced meditation for years!

No matter which form of meditation technique you may use, be sure that it is somewhere peacefully comfortable while allowing no disturbances while meditating for the best results.

Lie down or sit in a comfortable position, while being in a receptive and positive frame of mind. You will focus on relaxing your muscles while quieting your mind. When undesirable concerns enter your mind, simply acknowledge them and then let then pass, however it may take some practice to do so. You should focus on your heart, while not expecting anything but relaxing. When questions arise, ask them and then let them go. The answers will come to you, when you least expect them.

The images you receive will help you resolve something in your life, and that is what is important whatever your belief in reincarnation. It may not always be possible to prove that these images really are from a previous life, although many people do get enough information to actually research and verify names, places and events.

Some people find out that the people they love now were with them in another lifetime, although their relationship with that person may have been different. For example your father may have been your brother or even your husband in one of your past lives.

Whatever you may believe about reincarnation and past lives, most people who do try regression find what they receive to be helpful and interesting, no matter what their initial belief.
